Rugs from recycled t shirts.
Refashion your old unwanted t shirts into new shag rugs for your floor by cutting them into pieces and using them as rug yarn.
Stick the knots into the glue strip leaving 1 2 inch between each knot image 2.
If you re making your own t shirt yarn cut off the top of the t shirt directly underneath the arms and cut off the hem.
Place a piece of cardboard under the rug because the hot glue will seep through the holes and make a mess.
Once the glue dries run your hand over the top of the rug to remove any loose pieces.
Place a strip of hot glue 1 inch from the previous row.
Continue to glue knotted t shirt sections all the way up the edge of the mat.
Keep gluing t shirt sections in one straight line along an edge of the mat image 1.
I ended up with 25 rows of t shirt strips.

The total time it took me to cut the t shirt strips was probably about 1 hour.
One method is to cut the t shirt into strips and tie them to a longer strip that has been made into a base cord.
