As a general rule most carport manufacturers in the united states refer to their standard 18 wide to 24 wide units as double carports or 2 car carports. An 18 wide unit may adequately cover two smaller cars but it doesn t leave you much wiggle room.

Our standard two car double carport measures 18 ft. Double carport width starts at 18 but we always recommend going with a width of at least 20 to allow for enough space to be able to move around each vehicle. While these units start at 18 wide we always recommend 22 wide x 24 wide units for two cars as they provide ample space to get into and out of the vehicle.
